Near-invulnerability (formerly): As a result of Freya's magical protection, Baldur possessed invulnerability to almost all forms of harm. Baldur was born to Odin, king of the Aesir, and Freya, queen of the Vanir.

Eventually Baldur's spell would be broken by mistletoe in Atreus' bow strap leading to his death at the hands of Kratos. Baldur is the main antagonist of the game God of War. Upon arriving he would encounter the God Slayer Kratos, believing him to be the Guardian, hunting down the Ghost of Sparta and his young son Atreus across Midgard. This lack of feeling pain or pleasure eventually drove the God mad and so he swore revenge upon Freya, vowing to never forgive her.Ī century after his invulnerability was granted Baldur's father, the King of Gods Odin, commanded Baldur to hunt down the Jötunn Guardian, not knowing she had already passed. However the spell came at terrible cost, rendering Baldur unable to feel anything at all. Upon foreseeing his "needless death" Freya would use her great mystical power to grant Baldur invulnerability to all manners of harm, whether it be physical or magical. In fact I don't think any of the Norse Gods do yet, when you kill one of Thors sons, the other asks what you are, they clearly knew of Kratos but had no idea the extent of his power.Baldur, also called the Stranger, is the Norse God of Light and Son of the Allfather Odin and the Vanir Goddess Freya.

He was the son of Odin and Freya, half-brother of Thor, Meili, Tr, Hodr, and Bragi, and the half-uncle of Magni and Modi. This page contains information on the twelfth step of your Journey - Escape From Helheim - which will include paths to take. Also iirc in Ragnarok the Aesir fight the Vanir and the giants are supposed to join the Vanir, so Odin and his band of Aesir gods will likely not want any chance for giants to come back or be alive still, so that could also fuel the hate as he doesn't know who Kratos really is. Baldur (Old Norse: Baldr) was the Norse Aesir God of Light and the main antagonist of God of War (2018). Welcome to IGN’s Walkthrough for God of War. I'd imagine that would anger an emotionally unstable super god. All of the ones I've made sense of are more along the lines of complaints about his condition. None of the tattoos of words say anything about protection. God of War is an action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) on April 20, 2018. I don't think he ever hated Kratos until he attempted to kill him and seemed like he did (first time). While it does look like a stave, I don't think it is likely for protection, and not just because Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats, physical or magical. The file Baldur Final Fight Save is a modification for God of War, a (n) action game. He sounds like he thinks Kratos is actually the Giant (can't really blame him lol). From their dialogue in the first encounter it sounds like Baldur wasn't really told anything other than there's a Giant that has a specific axe and I want you to bring them to me. Baldur was sent simply to likely either capture Faye, or kill her and bring Odin her Axe. This leads us to believe he had at some point figured out who Faye was, and sent Baldur (from what I understand, he's their best tracker amongst the Aesir gods mentioned at least, as well as his protective spell that renders him unkillable). Mimir talks about Odin and his need to control all things, collecting prophecies and such to help him control the world.

We don't know when Odin realised this, but from the way the story plays out it seems like he found out around the time she died. Since you beat it, I'll explain it a little more as some of its easy to not pick up on.įaye was a Giantess unknown to what seems like the world outside of Odin.
